Website Promotion

Website Promotion is similar (in principle) to Promotion off-line. However "in principle" is actually the keyword since there is where almost all similarities end and where more complex and never ending changes are taking place in the on-line arena of Website Promotion.

Web site Promotion differs from Website Marketing in that the first one can bring in a lot of visitors in general while the second can bring in a lot of real prospects, if done right.

Although the term "Website Promotion" is being used widely by everyone in the Internet, including serious Website Promotion companies, it is actually Website Marketing what these companies are providing. Inexperienced SEO companies as well as webmasters with little experience focus their attention only in bringing in as many visitors as possible to their website not knowing that they are diluting their efforts in an audience that might not be interested in what they are offering.

When checking their website statistics they could find that they have plenty of visitors but that none of them spent a dime in their products/services. They could wrongly assume that either the product line is not being displayed in an attractive manner, the prices are too high, they are not inspiring enough confidence in their customers, or any other assumption when the real problem is in the visitor itself.

If you make use of the keyword "SEX" in your site, which is the single most searched word in the Internet, you will attract many people interested in adult products. However as soon as they find out that your site has nothing to do with sex, they will go away disappointed and even if they see something that interest them, chances are that they will still go away feeling that they were lied to. The same goes for placing classified ads for attracting a general large audience with the hope that some of them will buy their products. Don't fall into this trap.
