Newsgroups (Using them for Website Promotion)

In most newsgroups if the person using the newsgroup doesn't promote his or her website in a way that doesn't look like advertising, instead of getting visitors he or she will get very angry responses since most newsgroup users don't like people advertising their own websites, products or services in it. As the name goes: Newsgroups are for news, not for advertising. However, we all know that ads can also be made in the form of news like in the case of many News or Press releases.

How do you get around this? (remember, this is not necessarily the most effective way to promote your website and it's very time consuming, but you could get some extra customers, or at the very least some extra visitors anyway, depending on the newsgroup(s) you use).

All that you need to do is enter one or several newsgroups, suitable for your purpose. Using one e-mail and a name, place a question that you will answer yourself using another e-mail with another name in the same newsgroup. The answer will bring about the information that you want to give about your website including it's website address, without sounding like you are advertising something. You are just helping someone in the newsgroup with their question... right?

For example:

(Joe) Hi everybody! I am going in vacations to the Florida Keys a month from now and I would like to buy a metal detector to use it on the beach. Does anybody knows where I can find one online?

(Mark) I know a place where you can find good quality metal detectors with warranty. Just go to (www.yourwebsite.com)

(Joe) Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

(Mark) You are welcomed.

Naturally, Joe and Mark are the same person just using different Internet Service Providers. If there are many people using that newsgroup and also are interested in your product or service, you are in luck!
